She enjoyed painting at the Royal Norfolk Show, despite the weather and an inch of water in her box easel on the first day. Some pictures were just “asking to be painted” including her bullocks “Waiting to go into the ring”, but it was her “Not so much fun at the fair” first foray into the cold and wet painting environment that earned her the joint Spirit of Plein Air Prize as it portrayed a puddle-deluged outfield around a struggling for custom fairground that spoke to the message of the “show must go on” for artists and vendors alike, despite the weather – and that is, indeed, the spirit of plein air. “All round it was a good experience, would I do it again next year?? Maybe I’ll check the long range weather forecast first!”
