Seattle Paint Out
VOLUNTEER

The following is a list of volunteer activities in which we need your help:
  • Neighborhood Lead
  • Wagon Lead
  • Coordinate neighborhood business/association support
  • Paint and clean up graffiti
  • Help identify graffiti for the clean up as field inspectors
  • Shuttle supplies to the volunteers

How does the annual Paint Out work?
Each day, half of the neighborhood groups will meet for light refreshments and a quick orientation. You will clean and cover graffiti while working with a small group and use a red wagon to carry supplies. In some cases, a lunch break may be provided in your neighborhood by a local restaurant. The afternoon continues much like the morning-finishing between 3:00 & 4:00 p.m. with clean up.

What can I do to help organize?
Help solicit volunteers from your building and businesses in your neighborhood.

Identify problem graffiti — we'll send organizations with whom we work to remove/clean graffiti from brick.  You may also help by asking the building/business owner with masonry graffiti to make a donation and sign a release form in advance of the arrival of the company.

Brightening Neighborhoods with Murals
Our annual paint out program was launched in 2000 and volunteers worked to brighten our neighborhoods with murals.  The first mural was completed at 55 Bell Street in Belltown.
